One of the steps that I find interesting in your plan is to survey teachers on thier knowledge of the standards. That is such an important piece that is often missing. I think you will have positive results if you have buy in from all of your teachers. Are you going to include a literature review as well? Also you may want to include parents in the process, maybe send a survey home.

ReplyDeleteWe are going to create a curriculum as a team to address the standards. I will clarify that in my plan. Thank you for pointing that out.
ReplyDeleteVertical and Horizontal alignment are so important!!! Just an idea... start with horizontal alignment during the first semester and get all the like graded teachers on the same track then second semester work on Vertical alignment. I understand that trying to do an action research project along with both horizontal and vertical alignment in one school year is a huge task. Good luck, I know it will work because I have been doing this same thing with my science department for the past two year and this past year we seen HUGE improvement!

ReplyDeleteDoes your district provide curriculum? I know in my district we have a set scope and sequence to follow. If your district does place some sort of expectations on you, this might be an issue. Just a thought. Your plan is very thorough and looks great!
